I've been dreading this moment because I knew it would come but I just didn't know what to do about it. My son is running a fever. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do for childcare when the kids are sick? This time it's the 10 year old who isn't feeling well. I'm pretty sure he caught the cold I had last week. The problem is he can't go to school but I still need to ( I just started back to school at Shelton State and sick kids are not considered a "valid" excuse for an absence). Unfortunatley I don't have any family who live close enough to help me out. So I'm wondering how I'm going to get through this week without missing any grades that I can't make up. I think I've cobbled together a plan for tomorrow but I'm afraid this fever might drag on a few days. I'm freaking out a little and just really needed to vent.
Thanks everyone. He's still sick but his Dr. says it's basically a cold virus so hopefully he'll be better soon. He's still not able to go to school yet because of the fever though. My husband and I were able to cobble together a way for us to both take turns keeping an eye on him, since it's my ten year old it's a lot easier because he can stay home alone for a little while. I'm just hoping my 3 year old Satchel isn't next. I have a midterm next week and I don't know what we'll do if he gets sick then. Thanks so much for the offers of help! Can I call you Rebecca and Kandi if he does catch it and I need someone next week? I don't mind paying any reasonable fee. I hope to see some of you tomorrow at the book club meeting.
Yes feel free to give me a call if you need someone. I won't make book club tomorrow because I have to work, but you are more than welcome to stop by and and introduce yourself. I work at Schlotzky's on 15th Street, and will be there everyday but Thurs and Sat from 5-10. My house number is 205-331-4517 and my cell number is 618-830-0309. I feel you on midterms. I just finished mine, and it was a nightmare studying with my son sick. He had an ear infection in both ears and that same cold virus.
My mom's phone number is 205-722-2393 her name is Mary, and I already told her about you and the situation. SHe is more than happy to help, and I usually go over there when I get out of class anyway.
