Tusc Moms

Hey ladies! I'm hoping that maybe some of you can help me out. I am in need of new childcare for the girls. The daycare that they currently attend is costing us $1000 a month. $250 a week for them both. Does anyone know of any cheaper places? I am starting a new job and going back to school and I cannot afford this anymore. I am at the point of having to just give up on my Senior year at UA due to not being able to afford childcare. If you know of any people that may be interested in doing in home childcare please let me know as well! Thanks!

Have you thought about a nanny share with another family? I looked into it but unfortunately don't think we will be around here for much longer.
How do I find about nanny shares? I have never heard of it until coming onto Tuscmoms.
You might be able to find a care giver through care.com, a church, etc. but to really get your moneys worth, you would want 1 maybe 2 other kids for the individual to care for... here is a site that gives good info http://www.babycenter.com/0_nanny-shares_5949.bc, i just googled "nanny sharing"
We used St. Luke's Methodist. It only ran us right around $400.00 a month. With that being said, you have to provide all your child's food. They provide an afternoon snack and milk for lunch. If they are an infant, you send everything for them. For me that was a plus. They were wonderful with my oldest.
Good child care is hard to find. There are many things to consider such as abuse and neglect. Cheap is not always the best, after all you only get what you pay for. I am a 55 year old grandmother and I charge $10.00 per hour. A small price to pay for a nanny that reads, makes sure the child is safe, cooks and does general cleaning.

Feel free to contact me if your still in need of childcare..iplayflute@hotmail.com Thanks so much

There is a wonderful woman named Jamie Dykes who owns Jump Start Academy in Northport. You should talk to her if you still need childchare. I'm not sure how much it would be for 2 ( I only have one), but it's reasonable.
My son is at Northwood Hills in Northport. It is 115 a month for the first child and they give a discount for the second child. That alone would be less than 250, although not by much. Honestly, 1000 a month for two kids is pretty much the going rate in town.
Thanks for all the advice on different places. I need to find something in northport even if it is around what we are already paying. We just drive way out of the way now and if we could even save on gas that would be great!

Does anyone know of someone that offers sick childcare?  My kids are in daycare but when they are sick I usually have a hard time finding someone to keep them.

I just realized I said it was 115 a month, I meant a week. Haley, You should definitely check them out.
