I moved to Alabama in May to be with my fiance's family. I just had our son in November (cannot believe he is already going on a month old already!) and am going to school and staying home with the baby. I really don't know anyone here, and while it's a little too early for play dates, I would like to get some advice about the places to go in town. Particularly,I would like to know what doctors are recommended by other Moms and Dads here, not just by the medical community.
Thanks!

I love Dr. Kris Roberts as my child's pediatrician. She is wonderful and attentive to the mother's needs too. She was helpful to me during post partum and reiterated the fact that mommy has to be well in order to care for the baby.
I completely agree with the above. Dr. Roberts is fantastic! Both our girls love her and so do I!
It's never to early to play :) There are some great programs for infants here in Tuscaloosa. The University offers Baby Talk Times (call Missy Head at (205) 348-7225 to register for the free session starting in January), and Kindermusik http://music.ua.edu/community-music-school/. Both start from birth, up. The library has a wonderful lap-sit story time called Baby Steps on Wednesday at 10:00 am http://www.tuscaloosa-library.org/, and the Children's Hands on Museum (CHOM) has a parenting and play program, Bitty Babies, for birth to 18 months on Wednesday at 11:00 am http://chomonline.org/page7.html.
Also, we've loved Dr. McGiffert at Tuscaloosa Pediatrics!
Permalink Reply by Melinda Waldrop on December 15, 2011 at 8:31pm We have been in the area just over a year. I moved back to the area to be closer to my dad. I also went through the thing of finding a new pediatrician. I have to say I think I found the best one out there to be found. He is absolutely amazing. I LOVE him. He is Dr. Phillip Phillips with Children's Medical Center, 205-345-2677, 1800 Rice Mine Rd.
He is wonderful!!!
