Tusc Moms

Hi:

My family just relocated to Tuscaloosa last week for the husband's job.  I'm a full-time SAHM with my two girls (23 months and 6 months).  We are looking for a fun park for toddlers that is stroller friendly, a pediatrician, and part-time (2 or 3 half days per week) preschool for my almost two-year-old!  Let me know if you have suggestions.  We would also love to make friends for playdates.  (Oh, any Mommy and Baby yoga/Pilates classes in Tuscaloosa?)  Thanks for any help!

Welcome!! My little family is still farely new here too (been here 1.5 years now). We're learning something new everyday about what Tuscaloosa has to offer. This seems to be a great place to raise a family. I would recommend reading through some old posts/discussions from this site. The women here have lots of good advice. Some places/websites to check out are PARA, CHOM and UA. There are lots of great parks and lakes that are kid friendly. There is a yoga place, but I don't know the name. There are also a few gymnastic gyms with classes for that age. Northport Baptist Dayschool offers a great part time preschool. A lot of the churches offer preschools, actually. Even the public library has age appropriate activities/reading sessions for the little ones. Pretty much everything you need to know about raising kids in Tuscaloosa can be found in all the discussions on this site. :-) Good luck adjusting and welcome to town!

Welcome Casey! My family moved here in August and I am a SAHM to a 4 yr old boy and 2 yr old girl. We LOVE Tuscaloosa and there is so much to do! We go to CHOM (Children's Hands On Museum) alot, as well as the library on Wed or Thurs, and gymnastics on Friday at Bama Bounders. Make sure to join some of the "playdate" groups on here and I'm sure I'll meet you soon! :)
