Permalink Reply by Karen on September 14, 2010 at 3:04pm My youngest has Ichthyosis (a genetic skin disorder) and sees Dr. Amy Theos at Children's in Birmingham. I've heard others say that her bedside manner isn't the best (possibly who Moozle is referring to), but we haven't had a problem with her. She's been wonderful about emailing and phone calls to check on Annalie, and she even helped us with getting free Aquaphor from the manufacturer. We see Dr. Theos every 3-6 months and will continue to drive to B'ham to see her even though we've moved to Montgomery.
Alabama Dermatology Associates will do a consult on children. We took our daughter there when she was just a week or two old. Dr. Karen Walker is wonderful, but she just left on maternity leave. Dr. Jeffrey Weeks is great too though. For an actual pediatric dermatologist you'll have to go to Birmingham. We saw a lady at Children's Hospital in Bham. I'll say that her bedside manner left MUCh to be desired, but apparently they are good at what they do. I would start local though - it took us 6 months to get an appt at Children's.
Are the marks on her face red? How old is she? Annalie was born with red marks on one eyelid and on her forehead. We assumed they were "angel kisses" or what-have-you, and they went away within 6-9 months.
