I teach Prenatal Yoga here in Tuscaloosa, at Yoga Bliss. I was wondering why doctors don't promote more prenatal type exercise. I don't have a good turn out at my class on Sundays and I wonder what I could do to promote it better. Anybody have any ideas?

While I was pregnant my sciatic nerve was incredibly painful, my doctor sent me to a physical therapist who showed me some exercises I could do at home and it really made all the difference. Maybe the obgyns in town don't know about the benefits of prenatal yoga to make the suggestion to patients? It couldn't hurt to call a couple of dr offices and try to set up a meeting with the dr and explain the benefits. Otherwise maybe you could advertise in the paper or the Kid's Life magazine I see around town? I didn't know about it or I  probably would have tried it out.

I took the prenatal class at Yoga Bliss (with Jennifer) when I was expecting. I loved it! I did have to stop earlier than I wanted, when I had to go on bedrest, but I was so glad that I got to take advantage of it for awhile. The relaxation and breathing techniques that I learned from Jennifer were much better than anything presented in the hospital prenatal classes, and helped me through my delivery.

My OB was in Birmingham, and the practice encourages prenatal exercise, including Yoga. Unfortunately, they only had info about classes in B'ham. I had noticed Yoga Bliss, on my way to church, and found your classes through an online search.

Perhaps you could approach Kids Life magazine about doing an article on what you offer. If you have pamphlets, some of the OBs or pediatricians in the area my allow them in their waiting rooms. Have you tried posters at Mana Grocery? Maybe Baby Bundles, Downtown Baby, or other kids' stores, might be willing to put out your business cards. Do you have a Facebook page or twitter account to update people about new classes?

You really offer a great service, and I hope that the word will reach more people!

Dear ladies,

I have hand delivered Flyers to the Local doctors office and have received no replies from them. Even my own OB doctor didn't seem that interested in the fact that I taught Prenatal Yoga. I have taken flyers to the local baby stores, but I suppose I should do it again. Thank You for your input.

Maybe you could ask the hospitals that sponsor  prenatal classes about doing a 5 min presentation at the end  of a session? That would be getting information right to your target audience. Sorry you had no luck with the dr's offices :(
Hi, Melody! I'm certified to teach yoga, and I love it! I'm in the Junior League of Tuscaloosa, and I always have friends in the League who ask me about prenatal yoga (of course I refer them to Yoga Bliss!). I have several friends who have taken it with Jennifer. I like the ideas about fliers at dr. offices. Message me -- the League is always looking for speakers at our meetings! It would be a great way to drum up business.

Vanessa, that sounds wounderful. My email address is yogablissinfo@yahoo.com, or  text me at 205-246-9789. I am currently pregnant also, and teaching Prenatal. I am thinking about taking flyers to my Prenatal Classes at Northport Women's Center. But if you ever want us to speak at Junior League we can. We could give your listeners a free class card.

I know this is old, but do you still have this class? I am 29 weeks and definitely like to take it in my last few weeks. I wish I had known earlier!!
