State law says children must be 1 year and 20 pounds to change an infant's carseat from rear facing to forward facing. But, the Academy of Pediatrics now recommends children be two before making the switch.

When did you decide to switch your carseat and or, if you have a baby, when do you plan on turning the carseat around?

We turned both girls at 1ish, when they met the 1 year AND the 20 pounds law.  But, this was before the AAP changed their guidelines to  2 years old.  If I had one that small now, I would definitely wait longer.

And on the subject of car seats ... I am so annoyed at how lax the booster seat laws are in this state.  So many other states require them until 8, I wish Alabama did as well.  Personally, my soon to be 8 year old is still in a high back booster, and will be for a while.

My 5 year old is also in a booster - and hers is a 5 point harness booster.

I tried my best to wait until my daughter was 2. However, she's so tall she was all scrunched together. It got to a point where she was so uncomfortable she would just cry. She would kick and push against the seat and scream. We decided two weeks ago to turn it forward facing (she's 18 mo-27ish pounds). We haven't had a problem since... which makes for one happy mommy.
