July MNO?

Is anyone up for a Mom's Night Out?  I could definitely use one.

I think probably the second to last or last week in July would be best.  Anyone have any ideas? We could do dinner/drinks, or a movie, or anything really.  I just wanted to get a discussion going.

I have an idea but I am not sure how fast I could get it together. I know a lady who does vinyl stickers for walls, glass, etc and she says we can have a party and decorate personalized wine glasses. Then, if we did that at someone's house, we could have a "Mom's Night In" after the fact and put wine in our wine glasses. :) If people seem to think this is a good idea, I can work on getting it together for July or August.

That sounds fun, Z.  I especially like the part about putting wine IN the glasses.  I'm out of town July 21-26, but around other than that.

Here is some info I got from my contact a few weeks ago:

 

They would be $12, per person, for a large wine glass with: 1 black initial, decorations (several colors to choose from) and black feather boa. I would need to get a final on initials ahead of time, if possible! The other option would be to do Auburn/Alabama color/theme glasses. These would be a bit more expensive... probably $15, each, with orange, navy, white or red initial, matching decorations and orange or blue boa

 

I could ask her to bring ribbon if you prefer that over the boa. I do think this is one of those things where you HAVE to RSVP before the party, A. To give her an idea of what letter to bring and B. To get directions to the host's house.

So, I am thinking that the wine glass MNO would be best for August, so we can get more prepared. I'll try and do it after the first week of school, if any one can give me the date of the first day. 

 

So, July? Do we want to keep it low key and just do dinner or something? We haven't gone bowling in a while and I need to go to All Fired Up too. What's everyone want to do?

Low key sounds good to me.  I'd be happy to host a potluck at our house some time.  Husband and son would be there, but it would be a night "out" for the rest of you and we love entertaining.  July or whenever - depending on the date.  I travel a bit, especially in the summer. 

 

Or just dinner or a drink out.  I'm always up for Spirits wine tasting on Thursday (or Carpe Vino whenever they do theirs - Wed.?) and a bite afterwards.

Hello, Ladies,

I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to make some VERY cute wine glasses with your group of moms for "MNO" in August! (We might all need those glasses full... with the summer behind us and with the kids heading back to school!)

April has provided some details already, but I wanted to add a few more!

• the cost will be $12, per person, to make a large wine glass (I can take checks, cash and credit/debit cards.);
• high-quality vinyl decorations include: 1 black initial, your choice of polka dots, flowers and other small embellishments in a variety of fun colors (i.e. black glitter, hot pink, lime green, red, etc.); and a black feather boa for the base (boa will attach with velcro so it can be removed when washing);
• you do NOT have to be present to order a glass (I can even put them together for those who cannot attend, or I can give you a packet with your "supplies," so you can design it yourself when you get the chance);
• you CAN wash your decorated glasses, but it's best not to put them in the dishwasher or use abrasive scrubs or heavy-duty soaps;
• you may order more than one glass... in case you want to get some Christmas gifts done!

Here is an example of what some ladies have done with their glasses! 

To make sure I have enough supplies (and the right initials), it would be VERY helpful to have a head count and details as soon as possible. :)  (I have a good selection available, but if I need to order more supplies, I would need to know 2 weeks in advance, just to be safe.)

Anyone want to go see Harry Potter Thursday night? I know it's last minute, but I want to see it and we were looking for a mom's night out.

There are showings at 7, 7:40, and 8:30, depending on whether we see it regular, 3d, or IMAX. If we do the later, we can do dinner first.

So, any takers?
